"Agar ap ye parhne walon ko koi pegham dein gay toh wo kya hoga?"

"Jis kisi haal me ho, Allah per bharoosa rakho."

Humans of Pakistan

I quit my education due to financial pressure and came here from Hunza in order to earn and support my family.
My younger brother studies in 9th grade. He asked me to look for a job for him as well but I know the hardships of living a life without education. Therefore, no matter what, I will educate him.

Humans of Pakistan

"I had a job but my only son got sick and I spent all my savings on his treatments.
I tried to sell fruits but failed. Now, I sell toys here and earn enough for a three times meal for my family.
Prophet (PBUH) said, "Allah tests His pious people." I guess this is my test. But, I'm thankful to Allah that he never let me sleep empty stomach."

Humans of Peshawer

Humans of Quetta

Lost my legs but I've my hands and mind. Disability is just an excuse for the weak. I will study, learn and educate myself till my last breath.

Humans of Pakistan

Saw this young fellow roaming around the bazaar and selling shopping bags.

"I go to school on weekdays and work on weekends. I earn a little for now that fulfills my needs, but will earn more and support my family after completing my education."

Kayi saal ho gaye, isi jaga per khara paa'n chalia bech raha hun.
(Its been many years that I'm selling paa'n and betel here.)

Chalia toh insani sehat k liye khatarnak hai!
(Betel is dangerous for health!)

Ye shayad thora khatarnak ho, aj kal insaan he insaan k liye khatarnak hai!
(This might be a little dangerous for health, the biggest threat to human is a human himself!)

Met this war veteran of 1965 and 1971 at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi.

"Aap ki koi aisi khuwaish jo puri na ho saki ho?"
(Any such desire which could not be fulfilled?)

"Mulk k liye shaheed honay ki buhat khuwaish thi."
(Wanted to be a martyr for the country.)

"Kya aj k naojawanon me apko wo jazba nazar ata hai jo 65 aur 71 me tha?"
(Do you see the same spirit in today's youth that was back in 65 and 71?)

"Jazbay k sath sath pehlay say ziada sha'oor bhi nazar ata hai."
(Alongside that spirit there is a lot more awareness in them too.)

(I am happy with what I earn. My family and I have never slept empty stomach.)

"Thora kamata hun per halal kamata hun, Rabb khud barkat daal deta hai."
(I earn a little but Halal, God bless lays itself.)

So we approached young #Ibtihaj and asked him about him and his future.
This is what is said,
I won't say anything about my family but dad is my everything now.
I want to become a pilot, and that is why I'll study hard. But unfortunately education here in Quetta, is not upto a good standard. Therefore, I wish to go abroad to continue my education and make everyone proud .

Humans of Lahore

I am happy! I drive this rickshaw around all day and then go to sleep at night thanking the Almighty for all I have.

One Hand Story.

"Back in 1995, at 15 years of age, I was a pro footballer. Believe me when I tell you I was fantastic at it. There isn't a stadium I had not played in and hardly ever lost any match. I was one of two selected to go play in the championships in Los Angeles that year and was looking for someone to sponsor me (it cost Rs.15,000) when unfortunatley, I lost my left arm in an accident at a textile mill. No one wanted to invest in a disabled man even though I could still play. I thought it was really unfair and decided I would prove to the world that just because I was handicapped I was still worth something so I started carving wood with my one hand and used my feet for support. God is kind and my faith helped as my business grew and now people seek me out to make all sorts of trophies and ornaments for them.
It wasn't easy as a 15 year old with one arm to think things would work out, but they did- and now I take it upon myself to help out other disabled people when they are in need- everyone in my community knows that I'm just a call away."

If anyone wants to meet him, he has a stall at Park Towers these days for the Sindh Festival.

"How long have you guys been friends?"

Her: "We've been best friends for 15 years"
Him: "Actually 13 years"
Her: "Yeah, we were in 9th or 10th grade- I remember because I liked another friend of ours in school and he pushed me to pursue that guy since they were friends also- so I did and then I even ended up marrying that guy a few years ago."
Him: "Yeah! So now she think she owes me and tries to introduce me to every girl she knows!"
Her: "It's true. But I think he is too into his looks" (laughs)

"Do you have anything to say about her?"

Him: "She is incredibly blunt- she never pauses to think about whether what she is saying is appropriate or not. But I think everyone needs someone totally honest in their life and she is that person for me."

"Zindagi mein sub say khushi ka moqa zara batayein?"
("Tell me about the happiest moment in your life?")

"Jab mein maash ki daal aur ghai ka gosht khata houn!"
("When I eat white lentil and cow meat!")

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what true happiness is all about.

This is Asfandyar Asif

This is Asfandyar Asif, a suited banker on normal days. Once a year he takes his annual leaves and heads out with us friends on a trip to the North of the country.
This photograph was taken on one such trip to Mahodand, Kalam. While waiting for the traffic to open up on the narrow mountainous road i noticed him laying like this by the waterfall. After taking the photograph i asked him.

Asfand kia ker raha ha oa? (Asfand what are you doing?)
Bhai relax ker raha hun aur kia. (Bro, i am relaxing what else?)

Makes me wonder how a suit defines you but on holidays you can be what you want and let it go. Makes me realize no matter no matter how much we grow up, we will always be young at heart if we let go of social constraints .
